It's TikiGeeki's 36th Birthday this Sunday, March 14th. Sundays aren't exactly the best nights for bar hopping, but Saturday is! Little do people know, but back in the 30's and 40's, when the Tiki scene was at its peak of beachcombery, the middle-aged man (back in those days mid-thirties) on his 36th birthday, would hop from tiki bar to tiki bar attempting to harass friends and bartender to leech free drinks. This is a proud and time honored tradition I am luckily able to partake in this year. Join me Saturday, March 13th, as I wander the bars of Southern California looking for the sweet nectar of the Tiki Gods. Ok, here's the plan... Tonga Hut and enjoy a fine cocktail by Hiphipahula. Then, drop down to Tiki-Ti to chat with Mike Sr. about the good old days. Drop down to Don the Beachcomber to see John Paul and the band and enjoy one of Marie's wonders. Finally, pop down to the Tiki Bar and see the Hula Girls. That's one hell of an impressive schedule to keep... but sacrifices must be made to the Tiki Gods! Have at ye! Yes, that involves some serious driving... so, as the Kon Tiki once set sail on it's epic journey, so too will I wander the savage seas of the LA basin in search for a tiki cocktail!

The mad scientist releases his creation upon the world! Muwahahaha! I'm seriously putting the 'geek' into this tiki. This page, for the entire night, will be a live feed... yes, LIVE... of my journey. The map shows sexy little me and where I currently am, along with where the tiki bars are situated. As I move along, a trail of where I've been will be drawn out. If that wasn't cool enough, every couple minutes the map will update itself. IT'S ALIVE!!! I created my own GPS tracking app, via my iPhone, that updates this here page in realtime.
